Ginger is good for you, right? RIGHT? I mean, look at the potential health benefits of consuming ginger.

I’m not sure the “candied” version is as good for you, mainly because the sugar content is outrageous. However, Trader Joe’s Crystallized Candied Ginger is addicting beyond belief.

I can polish off a bag of this if I’m not careful, and while I’m getting a healthy dose of ginger, I’m also getting an absurd amount of sugar and calories.

Let me break down some of the nutrition facts. There are six servings in a bag, and each serving has 140 calories and a whopping 33 grams of sugar!

It’s not hard to eat at least half the bag or more, which would be around 420 calories and 99 grams of sugar.

I like to think of this as a “healthier” version of junk food, and even that’s debatable.

It’s the perfect balance of sweet and spicy. Trader Joe’s also offers an uncrystallized version. Both are good.

As a side note: since this is natural ginger, this works well for nausea/motion sickness.

You’ll find the best deal on this candied ginger at Trader Joe’s. If it’s not in stock or you don’t have one near you, you can order it off Amazon but expect to pay a little more than in-store.
